Welcome to Acclaim Magazine’s Heat of the Week for November 17, 2023. Here are our favourite new releases from Australia and around the world this week — Follow our playlist here for updates of the best new music every single Friday.

01. Antarctica - BAYANG (tha Bushranger) ft. FRIDAY*, TT

BAYANG (tha Bushranger) continues his conquest to shake up the Sydney sound with ‘Antarctica’. His cutting delivery slices through the frosty atmosphere, perfectly complemented by Bobby Flowers’ production—a harmonic blend infused with breakbeats that sets the stage for this expedition into unexplored musical frontiers. Joining BAYANG along the journey are TT and FRIDAY*, the latter contributing a melodic outro that adds a captivating dimension to the track.

02. ScarLip - Blick

ScarLip strikes again with ‘Blick’, a hard-hitting NYC drill heater that sees Scar showing off her lyrical prowess and filtering her raw aggression into an undeniable bop. ScarLip’s ability to craft exciting moments with each release is evident and ‘Blick’ promises to be another standout in her swift rise. It’s one that’s bound to ignite blocks throughout the Bronx in the coming weeks.

03. Oscar #Worldpeace - Gets Like Dat ft. Bawo

Two of London’s most promising talents collaborate on the laid-back ‘Gets Like Dat.’ Set against a backdrop of jazzy hip-hop production, Oscar #Worldpeace and Bawo each deliver clever verses, sprinkling in witty lines that address the daily grind. It’s a slick one for fans of a style of UK hip-hop that embraces a more down-to-earth approach.

04. Tanboymiguel, Cult Shotta - Everytime We Fvck

After weeks of teasing fans (or tormenting haters) with snippets of this song in viral TikTok videos, Sydney cyber-trappers Tanboymiguel and Cult Shotta finally unleash ‘Everytime We Fvck.’ This 1:07 hyperpop earworm finds its sweet spot somewhere between Chief Keef’s ‘Citgo’ and Eiffel 65’s ‘Blue (Da Ba Dee)’.  Tanboy takes charge of the hook, while Shotta dives in with an autotune-heavy verse. It’s pretty much what the Vengaboys would sound like if they drank lean and due to its short duration, it becomes an addictive experience, forcing you to hit replay and keep that serotonin coming – a big-brained strategy if you ask me.

05. EAST AV3 - IN MY HEAD ft. Danté Knows

EAST AV3 serves up a robust blend of their bratty electronic-infused punk-rap vibes on ‘IN MY HEAD.’ The track brims with sharp flows from EAST AV3’s Kane Trop3z and YOURPAPASENSEI, who deal double damage on their verses, skillfully navigating the production by Nic Flare and Tasker. Sydney’s Danté Knows joins in on the chorus, delivering a melodic hook that resonates with the gritty undertones reminiscent of Bakar being kept up past his bedtime by the Adderall-laced disco drums that punctuate the track. It stands out as one of the highlights from their latest EP, DAY TRIP TO THE NIGHT TRAP, which is out now.

06. Nardean - Cleopatra

Egyptian-Australian talent Nardean unleashes her wrath on a former flame in ‘Cleopatra,’ a jazz and R&B-infused track that cuts deep. Featured on her latest EP, The Remedy, the track serves as a bold middle finger to a failed relationship, highlighting not only Nardean’s sharp lyricism as a rapper but also her versatile vocal range on the hooks. ‘Cleopatra’ is a compelling reminder to be mindful of who you mess with and stands out as a highlight of the project.

07. Larissa Lambert - Ride It ft. Jay Sean

Sydney R&B talent Larissa Lambert collaborates with former Cash Money signee Jay Sean on a polished slow jam titled ‘Ride It.’ Lambert’s captivating vocals are complemented by lush harmonies from Sean, who contributes a contrasting verse. The production, helmed by OpentilL8 and PANAPA, sets a smooth mood and further solidifies the world-class music emerging from Australia.

08. Russ Millions - BADMAN ft. NLE Choppa

Southeast London driller Russ Millions enlists Southeast Memphis rapper NLE Choppa for ‘BADMAN’, one of the standouts on Millions’ new project FREEDOM. It’s a strong example of a sound with the potential to bridge the gap between the UK and US scenes, meshing Russ’ signature hook-laden drill with NLE Choppa’s turnup southern flows.

09. Soli - Blessed

Melbourne’s Soli delivers ‘Blessed’, an R&B anthem infused with a subtle Afrobeat vibe. Within the track, Soli melodically revels in the theme of second chances, showcasing significant harmonies and intricate vocal work. The song reaches its crescendo with a vast, bustling African vocal choir, reminiscent of the vibrant sounds found in tracks by artists like Asake or Seyi Vibez.

010. Porcelain Boy - GET PRETTY

Dynamic duo Jordan Olysagers and Jordyn Mamora, collectively known as Porcelain Boy, capture the exhilarating spirit of vibrant nightlife in ‘GET PRETTY.’ With production contributions from Aus dance heavyweights Club Angel and Fukhed, Porcelain Boy unleashes a heady rush of electronica-infused punk, racing through stabbing basslines and raucous vocals.
